Welcome to the Year of Empties Hair edition! Since some products may vary from travel to full-size, I’ll keep noting each item’s amount in ounces. The full-price size will be included for reference.
Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Hairspray (10 oz, qty 1) Price 18.95
Thoughts: After nearly 3 years, I finished this hairspray! 2017 saw a few events asking for a healthy dose of hairspray. This sets a firm hold but doesn’t leave an obvious layer of product visible to the eye. Any dews left can be smoothed with a kabuki brush (specifically for hair styling).
Would I purchase? Absolutely.
Big Sexy Hair Spray and Play Harder Hairspray (10 oz, qty 1) Price 18.95
Thoughts: When I had an extra-long day requiring significant hold, I reached for this one, however I think both the Spray and Play hairsprays performed just as well.
Would I purchase? Yes!
Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo (13.5 fl oz, qty 1 + 29.2 fl oz, qty 1) Price 2.99-5.99 MSRP for 13.5 fl oz
Thoughts: Probably my favorite shampoo, for multiple reasons: softens and lathers so well, along with its signature scent that I can’t quite describe other than “CLEAN HAIR!”.
Would I purchase? I just ran out of the pump size just at the end of 2017 and it’s on the top of my shopping list!
Aussie Mega Moist Conditioner (13.5 fl oz, qty) Price 2.99-5.99 MSRP for 13.5 fl oz
Thoughts: How good is this conditioner? I barely need to use more than a couple pumps’ worth and it’s good to go! I loved this one, and Aussie has a wide variety of conditioners. A little goes a long way with my hair, which is pourous so it retains moisture and oils to a fault (not in a good way, either). It takes a while to go through just the 13.5 fl oz size, so only one was used to in a six month period.
Would I purchase? Yes!
Garnier Fortifying Shampoo (13 fl oz, qty 1 + 3 fl oz, qty 1) Price from 6.29 and up for 13 fl oz
Thoughts: I think I snagged this to change things up for my hair, and another travel size because that’s what was available. It does a decent job, but it doesn’t make me feel WOW about it.
Would I purchase? For the travel size, yes.
Life Lab Lemon Rinse Anti-Frizz Gentle Clarifying Hair Treatment (.067 oz, qty 1) Full-size price 10.00 oz
Thoughts: I paired this after using the Garnier products throughout the year since my hair needed anti-frizz treatment. This was originally in an old Glossybox, but still did a great job! Unfortunately, I have no idea if this product is available aside from LifeLab and from what I searched, the product page doesn’t list the size sold.
Would I purchase? At one point I would have. It was a really decent item to have when I needed an anti-frizz during the warmer seasons.
Oribe Dry Texturing Spray (2.1 oz, qty 1) Full-size Price 46.00 for 8.5 oz
Thoughts: This scent wasn’t too bad, and it added some texture to my hair enough to give a put-together look with a beachy look.
Would I purchase? I’m looking for an affordable texture spray – the full-price just isn’t up my alley for hair products.
Briogeo Dont’ Despair, Repair! (.17 oz, qty 2) Full-size price 23.00 for 0.27 oz
Thoughts: I’m absolutely thrilled to see this brand has expanded in popularity – where they’re even available at Sephora! In my early days at ipsy, this was a fun brand featured in the bag. This hair mask is one of my favorites when my strands are damaged and need some extra love.
Would I purchase? As a hair splurge, yes. I don’t need to use hair masks too much, so treating myself to this item will last a long time.
And there you have it! The hair edition is short, but sweet. I’ll be looking for a dry texture spray sometime soon. If you have any suggestions or a favorite, leave a comment below!
