This is the 2017 Year of Empties Bath, Care and Nails edition. I’ll note each product’s size is ounces since they vary, along with their full-size price just for reference. This entry will be broken into two sections: (1) bath/care and (2) nail items.
CVS Pharmacy Beauty 360 Bath Salts (25 oz, qty 1) Full-size price 10.49
Thoughts: These are great when I’m working out and get muscle aches. The lavendar scent is really relaxing.
Would I purchase? Yes!
Byredo Tree House Candle (8.5 oz, qty 1) Full-size price 80.00
Thoughts: Byredo’s candles burn at an impressive consistent rate, and slowly. This candle lasted me all year, down to the very last day of December. I’m not usually a tree scent lover, but this was very light.
Would I purchase? After saving up , yes! However, since this lasted me all 12 months, at regular use it would come out the same if i purchased multiple candles used all year long. I would probably choose one of these candles over multiple scents.
Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub (18 oz, qty 2) Full-size price 7.68 for 18 oz
Thoughts: I finished not just one, but two of these this year. It’s affordable, cruelty-free, and locally made in the states. It was so good I bought a tub for my sister and her boyfriend, who are both loving it. Only a tiny scoop on your fingertips is all you need for each area of your body.
Would I purchase? Hands down, yes. I’m in the middle of some shower oils, but may end up getting this in addition. It’s great to use for your feet if you’re a regular jogger.
Hawai’ian Island Bath Scrub (unknown oz, qty 1)
Thoughts: I received this as a gift, but the packaging’s size was damaged so I’m not quite sure how much was in here. Available only on the islands, sadly!
Would I purchase? I would love to hunt down this brand to buy more!
La Lavande Bath Crystals (10.5oz, qty 1) Full-price 9.99 for 10.5 oz
Thoughts: I received this at White Elephant Christmas last year, and see it as a win! They created a decent scent and relaxing bath experience.
Would I purchase? I want to try different crystals in the future, so we’ll see.
Aveeno Stress Relief Foaming Bath (10 oz, qty 1) Price Varying
Thoughts: I purchased this in hopes it would create bubbles, but it actually did very little. The scent, however, was really pleasant.
Would I purchase? Likely no.
beauty blender blendercleanser solid (1 oz, qty 1) Price 16.00 per solid
Thoughts: The beautyblender solid ended up in this post because I wasn’t sure if it counted in the makeup section. Regardless, I honestly go to this and this only for cleaning my beauty blender. This lasted so long!
Would I purchase? Definitely.
beauty blender Liquid Cleanser (1 oz, qty 1) Full-price 18.00 for 10 oz
Thoughts: Received in a beauty subscription, this liquid cleanser did very little for my beauty blender, nor my brushes. I was shocked at the reviews because this was the opposite experience for me. After the whole process, there was still leftover product on my brushes and beauty blender.
Would I purchase? I’ll be sticking to their awesome solid cleanser.
Soapwalla Deoderant Cream (2 oz, qty 1) Full-price 14.00 for 2 oz
Thoughts: This was a surprise hit. I had no faith in trying out this cream deoderant, but it actually did a decent job! I did have to re-apply at some point mid-day but that wasn’t a huge deal to me. It was cheaper on Amazon when I purchased it in early 2017, but the price looks a couple dollars more on their official website.
Would I purchase? I ended up purchasing another, but I’ll be trying out other organic/natural deoderants after I’m finished with the second.
Formula X Top Coat (.4 oz, qty 1) Price Discontinued, 10.00
Thoughts: This was a surprising item to run out of. The Formula X top coat is now discontinued, but it decently dried in an acceptable amount of time and held up well for my nails.
Would I purchase? Sadly, now discontinued. I probably would have.
Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus (.25 oz, qty 2) Price 9.50-9.99 for .25 oz
Thoughts: This formula I always reach for when my nails weaken. I overused it only to find my nails consistently breaking, then realized my mistake. First and foremost, every formula is different for every nail. Second, don’t continually use this – figure out what works for your nail type. Again, everybody’s nails are different, so results do vary. But this works for me every once in a while when my nails weaken with breaking and peeling.
Would I purchase? I’ve got a backup on hand, so yes! But remember – use in moderation.
Nails Inc NailPure Top Coat (0.17 fl oz, qty 1) Full-size Price 15.00 for 0.49 fl oz
Thoughts: I want to say this sample was the NailPure Top Coat, so I’m taking a risk to list it as is. Either way, the sample was really great – the consistency was even and dried at a good pace.
Would I purchase? I just might have to try it out!
Zoya Remove Plus Nail Polish Remover (32 oz, qty 1) Price 25.00 for 32 oz, 9.99 for 8 oz
Thoughts: Zoya’s remover has been my go-to remover for years and years. It doesn’t dry out your hands and has a relaxing scent that doesn’t leave an acetone aroma.
Would I purchase? I still have a huge backup so I’m in no hurry.
Mineral Fusion Nail Polish Remover (6 fl oz, qty 1) Price 8.99
Thoughts: If you had told me a year ago there’s a non-acetone nail polish remover that works just as well as acetone-based removers, I would have laughed at you. Not anymore. I have no adequate words how well this works. It’s available online and at select Whole Foods locations.
Would I purchase? I already did!
