February Favorites

Just in time for the end of February – a couple of favorites I truly fell in love with this month. Peruse through to find out what gave me the hearts and all the feels!

byredo | the hapa life

I had a (VERY) generous gift card and been eyeing the Byredo candle in the Tree House scent. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen a quick InstaStory when it arrived a while ago. I finally got around to burning it earlier in February, and oh. My. Gawd. If the smaller size weren’t sold out, I would swallow the $35 price tag. (Dangerous note, I just noticed there’s a rose-scent candle and if available…)

The scent is similar to a forest without being too overpowering. This purchase was risky because I’m prone to migraines when exposed the wrong scent, but I heard Tree House is very relaxing, and it didn’t fail! A little burn goes a long way, and Byredo provides important care instructions so you can get the most out of your candle.

Over the years I’ve noticed my eyes have developed the dark circles. It’s that time. So I finally got around to purchasing an eye balm, and got lucky with First Aid Beauty’s Eye Duty Triple Remedy Overnight Balm.

The overnight balm is useful for both the undereye area and upper eye lid. Score! The balm almost feels solid but you definitely pick up product.  This requires nightly application, which I do right before bed. It can take about three weeks for skincare in general to start producing results, so I gave it some time and noticed the skin tone around my eyes evening out! I didn’t think it was possible. Definitely made my favorites list this month.

tatcha | the hapa life

Even though it’s been rainy since December/January, the weather has felt dry on my lips.  Some tatcha beauties were purchased toward the end of January but weren’t opened until this month, which included the tatcha Camellia Gold Spun Lip Balm. I was hesitant in splurging on this, but don’t regret them one bit! I love this lip balm. My lips don’t chap from it at all and it settles evenly over a gradual period of time. You don’t need too much for application, either – one quick swipe in the canister is all you need. (And there’s gorgeous gold flakes, that boosted some love.)

Question: What’s your least favorite makeup to apply?  (Leave me a comment with your answer!)

Mine is anything brows.  Since I’m half-Japanese, I inherited my family’s very VERY thin hair on my legs (that for which I’m grateful) and – unfortunately – my eyebrows.  It’s an absolute nightmare trying make these brows look semi-natural or even presentable.  I’ll try any brow product in hopes it makes that process less miserable.

So this month I decided to try out the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil, which has made this easier. I’d been using their Brow Wiz regularly the last few months, but wanted to try something thicker to see if it would speed the process along.  It definitely has!  I might keep trying out new brow products, but this has been a great one to try.

bareMinerals | Ingrid Nilsen

I saved the best for last.

As soon as Ingrid Nilsen announced her collab set with bareMinerals, I checked Sephora to see if it was in stock there and purchased the set. It’s everything I love – awesome hapa beauty blogger Ingrid Nilsen, a rose-gold bareMinerals brush, bareMinerals foundation, reminding you to be your best self – what’s not to love?

The foundation features 30 different shades for a better skintone match. This set also comes with a subtle highlighter for a natural shimmer, the rose-gold brush that says “Be You”, and all in a cute beauty clutch that says “Be Your Best Self”. The highlighter is meant to look like a natural glow which I need on a daily basis.

Although it’s the month of love, I’ve had some February blues and kept low. Maybe it’s the downpour of rain we’ve had? Here’s hoping next month will brighten up! Let me know what some of your favorites from February have been in the comments below 🙂 I hope to hear from you.
